Home Surgery

You know those massive pimples that you get under your skin? The ones that are too deep under the surface to squeeze, and hurt a lot when you try? I had one of those this morning; it was like there was a pea under the skin of my chin.

So anyway, armed with a bottle of Dettol and a very sharp pin, I set out to burst that motherfucker into oblivion. Twenty minutes, a sink full of blood, and a bit of pain later, I managed to get some puss out, but somehow I couldn’t burst the pimple, irrespective of the fact that I poked the pin all the way through. Multiple times. I love popping pimples, so I thought it would be a goldmine..!

In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best idea, but I was going out to a ~social gathering~ and didn’t really need it to be visible, although I’ve realised that if I don’t mention stuff, then people don’t notice it anyway.

Focus question: Have you ever attempted “home surgery”?

No. I’ve never attempted “home surgery” because I know that I’ll be able to screw up no matter how careful I am.

I hope you don’t get an infection and also scarring!

Never tried it, but that’s cause I’d be deathly afraid I end up jabbing myself in the eye or something (I’m pretty klutzy). I hate under the skin pimples; they are the absolute worst. I hope that there isn’t any scarring for you from this one!

I do that with needles at the slightest hint of a spot, hehe. My best one was a huge zit (possible infected hair follicle?) in my armpit – exploded masses of thick yellow goop everywhere.

I’m such a gross cow XD

I HATE those kinds of pimples. I usually just let them be and they go away after a week or so. :P Wouldn’t try “home surgery”, I’d be too afraid of poking my eye out.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t notice anything?

…to be fair though, I was so blinded by the end I don’t think I would have noticed anything. :P

Those kind of pimples are the worst! You can’t pop them and they hurt like hell! I like popping pimples too. Glad to hear I’m not the only one. :P

Am I the only person who finds this entry gross? :p I feel like I’m the abnormal one here…

@Kristine @Manda: I don’t think scarring will be something to worry about; I do have a small mark from where the pin went in, but I don’t think that will be lasting/noticeable. As for infections, I have been/am being liberal with Dettol, so hopefully that will deter any infections.

@Jem: Ahaha, the oozier/more explode-y the better, in my opinion.

@Amanda: Awesome. I guess it makes sense that I notice my own bodily issues more than anyone else would.

@Meg: You need to jump on the pimple-popping bandwagon :P It’s fun and rewarding.

I’ve never done home surgery. I’ve actually never had one of those pimples you’ve described. Sounds incredibly painful. I guess I should consider myself lucky, then. I’m too much of a pansy to attempt home surgery!

I love popping pimples…I hate those ones which are called ‘blind spots’. My boyfriend used to get the occasional HUGE zit and he used to save them for me so I could pop them :p
