Wow, so when you only have one day off in a week, you get insanely excited over it!
Working 28 hours, attending university, and having an assignment due, is totally not conducive to my lazy Arts student lifestyle! Today, in particular, was a mess. Uni from 8am-4pm1; work from 5.30-10.15pm. Further, with my resolution to stop spending so much on lunch, I got very hungry, which seems to make my face fairly pale by the end of the day. That, of course, is completely fine — I like pale skin!
Also! I was running on only four hours sleep2, on account of working the previous night, and then having to stay up to finish a lab report introduction I had due at today at 8am in my lab. Upon proofreading it this morning, I realised I spent too much time plugging my awesome research proposal, and not enough time reviewing the literature. Alas.
But in the end, I’ll finish the week $450 richer, so it’s not a complete loss. Also note that I don’t usually work this much, although I’ll now have increased hours at work for at least a couple of weeks.
Anyway, I think this entry was rather boring. Hey, they can’t all be winners! Tomorrow, I resolve to spend the entire day in bed and/or staring at screens. People keep telling me to watch Glee. Until a few days ago, I had no desire to see it, but now, all of a sudden, I have the urge. That happens to me, sometimes; I don’t know why. I grabbed the extended pilot from work this evening, and am going to give it a chance.
- Although I did have two hours of break, in which I spammed Twitter for the second time today. And by “spammed Twitter”, I mean “tweeted twelve times in one day, which is probably a record for me, though nothing compared to what others are capable of”
- I almost always get eight. I need eight. A full night’s sleep is one of my greatest pleasures. I don’t see how some people can stay up all night, every night!
I’m not a big fan of television series. I’ve only followed two this last year: House and Project Runway. But once I found out about Glee… Boy oh boy. Ever since the first episode I was hooked! I hope you’ll enjoy it as well! :D
I TOTALLY feel you. This semester has almost killed me in terms of business… side effect of taking a full course load and working two jobs. But at least my weekends are free! I hope yours are too :)
I know what you mean about needing a lot of sleep. I got 3 hours the other night, and everyone told me to man up because that’s what they do EVERY NIGHT. I just… ugh. :|
I also understand about having a day off. :P I rarely get any days completely to myself – I work on the weekends, so I only get time off if I request it at work or if I have a day without school. It can be a little overwhelming.
I’m fortunate, I only have to work. No school for me! I don’t know how I did it back then and how people do it now. I’m happy with my 40 hour a week job!
I watched a bit of Glee, and while it wasn’t my style of tv show, It was like a train wreck lol I couldn’t look away.
Aaaaurghhh. Same here about being busy (in fact, my hundreds of pages of reading due tomorrow are the exact reason why I’m procrastinating online now). And same here about needing sleep. My roommate is one of those people who never seems to need sleep — she logs anywhere between 3-6 hours of sleep every night and is always completely fine. I don’t understand. She must not be human.
“…lazy Arts student lifestyle” — Oh how well I know that! LOL.
But that does seem pretty hectic! Thankfully (sort of) I don’t have a job, so my schedule isn’t ape-crazy like yours, hahaha.
Glee? Really? Hmm…
Oh dear D: I hope you make the most of your day off! I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of juggling work and uni, let alone any attempt at a social life. I’d love to just concentrate on my studies and have time to go out, but the lure of money is too great…
Glee is very addictive. Even if the show itself is an over-the-top high school drama, I love the musical covers and energy of it xD
That describes my university life so perfectly, only I worked about 35 hours every week. How I handled an almost full-time job with full-time studies was beyond me. I had no social life, and little time for sleep. In the end, I guess it was worth it. I wouldn’t do it again, though.
I’ve heard a million good things about Glee, so I might have to check out the pilot as well. Let us know what you think of it!
Oh you have me pinned :) I’m run off my feet with school, uni and TAFE. My god, a day off is like god’s grace these days hahaha.
Since I entered college, I didn’t get to watch Glee. I watched until the 4th episode, and then since I don’t have cable in my apartment near my campus, I can’t watch it :(
But wow, getting $450 is awesome. I do need a job, as I am currently financially disabled :( I should probably cut down on my spendings.
@Manda: I generally work on weekends, but have days off during the week instead. There’s more to do/keep me busy at the job I work at on the weekend, so it’s all good!
@Clem: Oh yeah, that’s a lot to do. You work longish shifts, too, so full/almost full days off are rare, I imagine!
@Desiree: Haha, I almost feel bad whinging, when you, for instance, have had far busier weeks than I have! But yes, money is alluring, and it’s too hard to turn down extra shifts because of it.
@Lucy: Oh my, I don’t know how you managed, either! Doing that every week is really an excellent effort! I know I’d get so behind with everything, especially study.
