I definitely agree with that IMDB user's comments. And I noticed Worthington's accents from the get-go! At first I assumed it's just because I have an ear for Aussie accents (I lived in Australia for several years) but by the end of the movie, I sensed that he was doing a really bad job of speaking in an American accent as his Aussie one was way too pronounced!

I'm the opposite; I felt like 3D didn't add anything to the movie and the visuals would have been just as stunning without it.

I think Avatar was a good movie, but the story wasn't good enough for me to consider it a GREAT movie.

I haven't watched Avatar yet. However, I think before I do, I'm going to watch Pocahontas first, just so I can properly compare the two story lines. :P

Avatar is one of the few movies, I'm actually glad I went to see at the cinema -- I had your same misgivings about it's length and the 3D factor -- I was glued to the screen for the entire 160 minutes. Wasn't restless at all, as I'm prone to be in movies. Pandora was ridiculously beautiful. I was told it was beautiful, and for once it lived up to my expectations, and the 3D effect just made it even more so.

I don't know about judging it's originality, considering it's a reinterpretation of the myth of Atlantis (I think?)... And I noticed Worthington's dodgy Australian/American accent too, but meh!

I'm with Josh. I didn't even notice his accent. I guess my mind was just too entranced with all the other amazing aspects of the movie (such as the graphics!). I'm not one for 3D either, especially since wearing those glasses can be uncomfortable and annoying for me. I wear regular glasses to see long distance, and so it was kind of awkward wearing the 3D glasses along with my regular ones. But it was totally worth it for Avatar!

I didn't even notice the Australian in Sam's voice. I guess my ears just aren't used to that type of thing. But hey, it's the future, he could be from anywhere. :P He could be from Ameristralia.

But, yeah, most beautiful movie ever. EVER. It does lack originality, but Cameron still put a lot of originality into it. E.g. the scenery and the language.

Definitely one of my favorite movies.
